Papers from Japan
Quite the literal translation, washi is the Japanese word for a traditional paper, 'wa' meaning Japanese and 'shi' meaning paper. It's made from the fibers of three different plants; kozo, mitsumata and gampi... and recently, I've become OBSESSED with it.
What's most fascinating to me about this paper is the traditional methods used to make it... such a labor of love! Each card in this collection is made with a carefully selected swatch of authentic Chiyogami (hand-screened) washi.
All cards are proudly assembled here in my San Diego, California studio.
